Early Schools of Lakewood
Tuesday, April 15, 2008, 7pm-9m
Becky Huber will discuss the formation of the early education provided to the residents of the Lakewood area. Byrd School, built on the site of the current Park Lodge Elementary School, was the first school house built north of the Columbia River in 1855. By the 1920’s five school districts were organized to provide elementary education to the growing population of the Lakes District. In 1928 the Clover Park School District was formed primarily through the efforts of Iva Alice Mann and Arthur G. Hudtloff. Come share your memories of early school days.
