142 Years & Counting

The Legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers

Feb. 12, 2008; 7-9 PM, Lakewood City Hall, 6000 Main Street SW

In commemoration of Black History Month the Lakewood Historical Society will present a program entitled “142 Years and Counting: The Continuing Legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers.” Join us on Tues, Feb 12th, 2008 at 7 PM in the Council Chambers of Lakewood City Hall, 6000 Main Street SW in Lakewood. We are privileged to have Col (Ret) James Manning and other members of the Greater Puget Sound Chapter of the 9th and 10th Cavalry Association present this special program. These units, as well as the 24th and 25th Infantry, have a proud history of representing their country since 1866. Contingents of the cavalry units participated in maneuvers in 1904 in what is now Fort Lewis and Lakewood. Artifacts and photos will be on display.
