DONATIONS

Financial Support
Your financial support is welcomed and will assist the Historical Society in meeting its mission to preserve and interpret Lakewood’s history through museum exhibits, educational outreach and programs of historical interest. Your gifts are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. Please call the Museum office to discuss a donation.

Artifacts & Archives
The Historical Society accepts donations of artifacts that are relevant to the history of Lakewood and the Pacific Northwest. The Museum’s Collection Policy governs the acceptance of gifts which are appropriately acknowledged. Donors receive a signed Deed of Gift but the Society is not able to place a value on any donations. Gifts become the property of the Society and will be properly cared for as outlined in the Collection Policy.

Definitions
Archival: documents, maps, photos, drawings, records and similar materials of historical importance.
Artifact: Manmade objects; usually associated with an earlier time or cultural period.
Memorabilia: mementos, souvenirs and miscellaneous material of matters and events worth remembering
Ephemera: Short-lived or transitory items intended for limited use; e.g., pamphlets, programs, tickets, slogans, signs, pins; especially when preserved in collections.
Objects, photos, maps, documents, dairies, journals, memorabilia relative to Lakewood history, especially if related to exhibit ideas.

MUSEUM WISH LIST

Reference & Research
Books, maps, recordings, surveys, documents, news clippings, programs and similar material on local history, especially old volumes with local and regional history

Furnishings (new or gently used)
Small reception desk and good chair for docents
Bench style visitor seating, e.g. an old church pew
Office desk and good supportive chairs
Filing Cabinets, Bookcases, map case, magazine boxes
Dictionary, Thesaurus, reference books & materials
Accessories: filing trays, staplers, hole-punch,
Paper cutter, mat cutter;
Folding padded chairs and chair rack
Storage shelving or cabinets

Equipment
Computers and Printer (less than 2 years old)
Telephones, Fax Machine, Shredder
Small copy machine; Vacuum Cleaner

Exhibit Fabrication Tools (to keep on site)
Simple household / cabinetry tools such as hammers, saws, screwdrivers, pliers, nail punch, level, clamps, electric hand tools, pry bar, saw horses, and a tool box!
